2.What does Figure 1 graph show?
The graph showed the perception of risk from having 5 or more drinks of alcohol once or twice a week, and the past month binge.
3.Were these results surprising to you? Why or why not?
I think what was the most surprising to me, was where the age group was around. 12 years to 17 years. It's sad to think of how young youth, and even children are around this kinda thing, and are just used to it. Like it's the normal thing to do.
4.Why do you think males are more likely to abuse marijuana than females?
I really don't know. I looked up a few articles and they weren't clear as to a reason why males are more likely to abuse marijuana.
5.At what age would you think most teens are likely to have their first illegal substance abuse?
I think in this day and in this age, young. Like 13 or 14. But all these reports, figures and graphs are suggesting that they are 12. And even younger.
6.What does Figure 3 say?
Figure 3 is the perception of risk from smoking marijuana once or twice a week and past month marijuana use
7.Are you surprised by this? Why or why not?
Again, I'm surprised at what the young age is. 12- 17. That is just so young in my mind. And then on top of the age, the times that is used each month. That is what is surprising to me.
NSDUH Report
1.Why is age appropriate, credible, and accurate information about the harm associated with substance abuse important?
To know what we are getting ourselves into. There are age regulations and such because there are effects that come with substances, and if they are started to early, that is just a bad path that one is headed down.
2.Summarize the findings of the report in 100-200 words.
Due to reports, figures and graphs that have been taken, there is a large percent of youth and children, aged from twelve to seventeen who have perceived to have a great risk from having five or more alcoholic drinks once, twice, or even more a week. The number has increased exceptionally over the past few years.
Not only do these reports show the percentage of adolescents binging and partaking in substances, but is shows the perceptions of the risk involved. Youth have a high risk in using substances. The reports hopefully will make youth and adolescents aware of the risk, and other occurrences that can happen.
